Twin Shadow - “Old Love / New Love” for GTA V

this is about as close as we’re going to get to a Disclosure & Twin Shadow joint and it’s almost (almost) as great as that combo would be.

Dreamcast: The First Step To The Next Level - Electronic Gaming Monthly [1999]
Happy fourteenth birthday, SEGA Dreamcast!
I can recall how excited I was to walk into Wal-Mart and use the money from my first real job to purchase the system and Sonic Adventure 2 with straight cash.  I’m still pissed that the VMU never worked as well as it should for Chao Garden, but I still ended up having fun with all the weird ass games for the system like Shenmue, Seaman, and Power Stone!

How far ahead of its time was the Dreamcast! VMUs for console-related mini games on the go (sort of like remote play) as well as in-controller second screen, tons of online multiplayer gaming features (when dial-up was still a thing), and VGA out for HD capable video. Damn.

I’ve been working with the good people at Wired Italia quite a bit lately, on both the print and ipad editions of the magazine. These looping animations were commissioned to illustrate a feature on the best apps for different categories of consumer (geek, fitness enthusiast, family, workaholic, and globetrotter). It’s a fun challenge to do stuff that straddles new and traditional media like this, and I love the way they’ve been implemented in the app. Thanks to Daniela Sanziani for that clip, and her fantastic art direction.

Hypnotic and wonderful.
